This is our first year doing plowing and I have a couple of questions regarding clean-ups.

Do you charge your seasonal customers to clean-up there drives after the city plows the streets? If so, how do you dtermine how much to charge? Percentage? Price per approach?

What about per push account?

Thanks,

I do per push. As far as clean ups it all depends. Everyone gets checked on after the storm. If its only to clean out where the city plow has come through then I dont charge extra. Good customer service I guess. When I go back and the drive or lot needs to be cleaned up again (drifting snow etc.) they will get charged the FULL amount for another visit. Hope this helps.

Each job site is different. Some I charge 1/2 to clean the end of the drive and some get full charge. My best accounts I will do it free. Keeps my best customers happy.

If its your first year Better get a reputation for good work and do them for free. Nothing is free I figure it into the price and tell them it's a free service I provide:D

I don't charge for cleanups. 1. I'm new to this and trying to get a good customer base. Therefore, I will check them all for free. 2. Most of the customers wouldn't want to pay for more than one plow. 3. I'd rather have happy customers and clean looking driveways, than angry customers. I'm hoping that by doing this, my name will get around, and eventually I will be able to charge better customers for this service.

I'm confused....who and why would ever do anything for free? Am I missing something here? Are you talking about after you've already done the driveway once?
Yes. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Sometimes we plow a few before the city plow comes by. Then after they are done, I come back and just finish the bottoms again. Takes like 1 minute.

Thanks to all of you who responded here. I too am just beginning and am taking notes on how to do good business. I like the idea of building the revisits into the base price and then promoting it as FREE. I think the customers will think highly of you and get the word out about your great business!

Good luck to all of you and Merry Christmas!
