I always love when they ask that you cut it shorter, then I ask them if their going to rake it all up, then tell them it’s better they hire someone else.
Or the ones who say I’ll fertilize it myself, and then expect you to cut it like it’s a fairway.

What they don’t understand is when you cut it lower it grows faster and grows all uneven.

We tried the green works electric zero this past Friday. It's built like a tank and we cut 14 acres in total with it and still had 23% battery left.

But at 40 grand I'm going to pass. It's 2 dollars a day to charge apparently and we run about 20 dollars in gas on the same size machine. It'll probably take 6 years to pay itself off by rough calculations. After 5 years we turn our fleet over so not worth the money I feel.

Overall though its a very well built machine, i was impressed.

I’m impressed you cut that much and still have that much battery power left, but ya 40k is extremely steep, they would have to go at half that price to really make inroads with landscape companies I would think.

I’ve got about 6 tools (80V) made by Greenworks, every single one I’d buy again, I think they’ve done a fantastic job with their tools and design.

Maybe we all get it for a week to get a accurate consensus

Just saw they had a 36” and 48” stand on, didn’t see any prices though, probably don’t want to shock everyone.

Hell of a warranty though, bumper to bumper 5 years and 2,000 hours.

How well does it cut in the rain.
Does it float? Asking for a friend!

I asked about washing it. Everything is totally sealed so apparently no worries.

If it was 25 grand I'd buy it but 40 is just not worth it in my eyes, probably doesn't help I'm Dutch.

Long weekends...
So my wife meets me at the shop this afternoon. It been a little busy for both of us and I need to change her snows over to her summer tires. Told her to meet me at the shop at 4 and I'll do it today. She decides after to go get some grub for her dad. He's 80, and she'll meet me at home later tonight.
Not even 20 minutes later my phone rings, she got hit by a truck in the diner parking lot but it was hard and the driver just laughed and took off at high speed.
She's an insurance person so go figure she got the plate, called the police and a friendly family came over and said they saw it all and gave her their information if she needed any witnesses. By the time I got there the police were just getting there and she was more shaken up than anything. I expected it to be worse... But got a plate, the cops already know his address, not local, the year, colour, make of the truck and have a street view of his house with the truck parked in front. My wife tells them there was a blue box that said Miller in the back. I pipe up it's a welder, and show her a Google image of one. Yep.
I plow the diner so I contacted the owner about the footage, this guy isn't going to be happy to be home.. should not have left the scene.

Got an email from Lawn and Landscape or something last week about electric trimmers, blowers, etc. Company by the name of Kress.

They have a powerpack that will recharge the batteries in 8 minutes...thinking that's pretty cool and has some potential.

Powerpack alone was something like $10k Murcan and the bigger one is something like $13k.

That's not the tools, just the thing to charge the battrees in a reasonable amount of time.

If it's something our industry hates and seems unaffordable and stupid you can bet it'll get legislated into a requirement...

Last year Toronto City Council was mulling over banning all gas powered lawn equipment by everyone.
Can you imagine the costs to businesses and their customers having to buy $40k zero turns, tens of thousands of dollars in blowers, trimmers, mowers and batteries.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my battery operated stuff but some things they just can’t do yet and while their great for owner/operators, you get employees using them, they’d be smashing the crap it of them.

And to be charging 10 or 20+ batteries every day or two, don’t think it would work out very well.

meanwhile my first mower was Schrader’s used bobcat and then I bought a new scag cheetah with a hurricane mulch kit and modified the stripe kit. It has been a good mower. Don’t ask me though cause I can’t haul heavy loads, I was new to thatch, everything is different colours, I’m colour blind, drive a dodge and don’t pack a lunch. But if I’m carrying my lunch box it means I’m probably going to buy whatever you have for sale. Oh and if you get flowers from me. Your done.

they were at the Toronto landscape show.
the push mowers were so light. They also had a robot mower that I thought would be amazing for this one retirement home with a nasty hill

I remember last year had to be the lightest year for weeds, even on boulevards , this year they’ve come back with a vengeance.
