Calling all blizzard reps, and designers

Discussion in 'Blizzard Plows Discussion' started by SchneiderPlowin, Feb 5, 2013.

  1. After plowing for 11 hours I started thinking of new ideas of how I can more efficiently do my job. Thinking whether a skid loader would be faster, a regular cab truck would be faster or some other option. I have Catapillar 246 Skid loader, dump truck, F350 crew cab, a few sidewalk guys and a few Subcontractors. I know this is probably been brought up before but I think the blizzard should come out with a design to stay in competition with kage plows and snow wolf plows. I know blizzard has the 8611 SS but I think they need to make the 8611 SW SS, a blizzard with speedwing capabilities at 11 foot I think it's the answer and I think they would have a ultimate plowing machine it could scoop, Windroll, without taking a attachment on and off, it would be the ultimate skid loader machine for us I have Catapillars and other skids that wont run 4 different hydros, and so we don't have to have a third joystick. Am i just completely off-base or what does everyone think. I absolutely love my 8611 it's been a great Plow for many years I am now on my fourth 8611 and I wish I could run one on my skid. Come on blizzard lets step to the plate and be in competition with those kage plows and snow wolfs plows.

    Thanks everyone,

You need an HLA snow wing.

I looked at those too, I still think it would be so much easier with a SpeedWing! When I started this business I had two blizzard plows one on a 2500 and one on a 1500, my 2500 a 8611 and my 1500 had a speedwing! I used that for small driveways and some sidewalks it worked great, I just think that this is a very good idea and needs to be expanded to the skidload series!

    Thanks for your input!
  4. No one else wants a speedwing for a skidloader?

Your Blizzard dealer can switch out an SS a frame with another plow so you could put a speed wing on it. I originally planned on putting an 8611ss on my first ss which is smaller than my current machine. After seeing it, I was afraid it would be too big so my dealer swapped out an 810 moldboard. That's what I still have.
  6. I dont want a regular 8 foot speedwing for my skid I want a 8611 speedwing, I think it would be the ultimate machine.

We built quite a few 860SW for skid steers. I agree that an 8611 full size version would be great for the skid steers. Now to convince them that there is a viable market to build them.
  8. Well That's what I'm trying to do.... I figured if we can get enough support on here and take it to my blizzard rep then he can push it further

what about a set of danger winges from Jerre for an 860 speedwing? get the width and performance you are looking for in a current package. show DD that it is good. need data to prove your point. hell make one for me, and if we get snow i will be happy to measure the performance for you.
  10. I had another idea last night, what about this, So My 246 Cat skid, has a set of hydraulics and a 7 pin, I was thinking what about connecting the hydraulic directly to plow and rams; One side would be connected to Ram for wing then return side would power oppsite side of angle ram, other side would be connected to wing ram and return would go to other angle ram, so when you wanted the plow to turn left the wing would be out and right ram would go in, and other same concept! I did three drawing First without any connections and second with set up metioned above and third drawing with one side of hydraulic running one side and other running other side and the two wing rams connected together to control wing dump on angle.

For whatever reason the picture wont show the connection line between to wing rams

At the begining of last season I was toying with the idea of turning my old 860 speedwing into a skid plow. I didn't have a job for it so I sold it as is but also think the s.w. would be great for a skid. I have had a power plow on my truck and it was great but I love the simple mechanical design of a s.w. Less to go wrong and almost just as efficient. We bought 2 new 8600 s.w.'s last year for the new trucks. I don't have the need for plow on my skid yet but a s.w. would be my choice if it was available.

Did you ever think of using the skids auxiliary hydraulics to turn the pump. Then use the seven pin wiring to control the the cartridges on the plow. Or use a regular blizzard controller in the cab of the loader. Being it is a cat you will be driving with your left hand and could operate the plow with your right.

That's pretty much the original concept for the SW plows on hydro instead of cables. Have part of the notes from the roundtable discussion way back when. The decision to run cables and springs for push back resulted in lower cost and less valving issues in the end due to the need for more pressure reliefs and bypass valves. Have done the same basic thing with the old 4 hose manifolds using the main wing hose for angle and the secondary for the wing pivot and eliminating the actual angle valve use. The other way it was plumbed was to still allow slide in and out and the wings pivoted from the angle cyl bypass.

  16. I would love to sit down and talk about this and kind of just pick your brain so I can have a better understanding and see if it's feasible for us to do it, Would you be willing to talk on the phone and figure this out....
  17. I just heard a rumor of a sw for skid!!!!!! I am Excited for march 6!!!!!
