Has anyone had much luck with cable chains on plow trucks? Are they as good as or better than chains?

they offer a significant improvement in traction, but not as good as chains. they go down the road smoother than chains.

They will NOT stand up to much slipping. You use them on wheels where there is not physically enough space to fit real chains.

Have to agree with Jason on this one. I've posted on several tire chain threads you can do an advanced search for chain with my user name.

Short answer: Welded V-bar chains last the longest and dig like crazy.
