I have a used Buyers spreader control box that came with my plow truck. Unfortunately, only the light comes on. I wanted to use it to control my TGS05. I'm positive everything is wired and grounded correctly, as I can bypass the control box and the spreader motor works beautifully, albeit at full speed. So I picked up another used Buyers control box from the local dealer that he got on a trade in. That box turns on, but will only Blast the motor. No speed control. The rheostat doesn't seem to work. I by passed the fuse in each box so I know it's not that.
So I figure the circuit board or rheostat is toast in both boxes. Is there a source for replacement parts for these boxes that anyone knows of?

And if I can't rebuild the boxes, is there any reason I couldn't just make my own setup via an inline fuse, toggle switch, and heavy duty rheostat for a speed control? I wouldn't have a blast function but that's no worry. I suspect that someone may have installed power to these boxes w/o grounding them properly in the past.

    Any comments would be welcome.

Well, I fixed the second controller. The power lead that connects to the fuse panel through the ignition coil circuit was broken in the little tab that sticks in there. Fixed that and the salter works like a champ. The other box is toast, however.
