Just busted a hose plow will go up or pivot how do I raise the blade to get it off the ground. Guessing I need to shorten the chains but what the proper way to do so.

Use a jack (floor jack, scissor jack, whatever) to lift the blade and take the tension off the chain. Short chain it.

If you have no jack, you can try pushing it into a pile to lift it. If you have no pile, you can buy a ratchet strap and use that to lift it.

I had my pump freeze up yesterday and I had to raise the blade to get home. I used a pry bar to lever each end of the blade up onto stacks of scrap wood blocks. I shortened the chains, but it wasn't high enough. I put a 2x4 about 2' long between the chains and twisted it to twist and shorten the chains further.
