classic or new body style? new plow or remount from older truck ,in 2003 they came out with a new mount that was longer because chevy made the truck longer in the nose .it will go on the classic 06-07 but be to close to the bumper and hit it when you hook up .,i still don't think it will hit the hood

I am willing to bet that it wasn't hooked up right. It was pry not sitting right on the hooks and you set it in the hooks when it cam back on the truck.

Do any damage to the truck?

100% agree... for the tower to go back far enough to hit the hood the pins had to pop out of the upper mount holes for some reason... or one or both weren't fully engaged to begin with..

I'd be looking over the pins and mount holes really really close....and if nothing is found wrong, chock it up to error when it was attached.
