Does anyone have the newer extra down pressure feature from Boss? I'm having a new one installed in two weeks and wanted to get some people's opinions. It seems like it will help for back dragging quite a bit.

Hey there. Just in case you don't get a reply from anyone with the boss down pressure feature, I just wanted to comment on my situation. 2 years ago I bought a snowex lt 7200 and the down pressure feature called scrape Maxx was just being introduced. The price with a new install was ridiculously cheap. It was something like another $125. I've never plowed with a different plow so I can't comment on how much difference the down pressure makes versus plowing without it. But I can tell you that it back drags quite well. My two cents for what they are worth is to go for the down pressure option. Worst case scenario is that you use it only occasionally, but that's better than kicking yourself for not getting it in the beginning. My hunch is it will be less convenient and more expensive to add it later on if you decide you do want it. Good luck and I hope that helps. Please let us know what you decide.

If down pressure is available, get it. Simple as that.

have not had a chance to look into this, is there a link on boss site? I looked quickly but did not see one.
is this an addon option to exosting blades and does it maintain compatibility for blades to move between trucks?
    thanks all.

No to the first and yes to the second. Only the controller is different.

On SnowEx it's same controller, but the down pressure is a programming thing

ah is this the option that was added to "catalog" late 2017?
thought it was new addon that could be fitted to existing rt3 mount types.

I dont remember the year but 2017ish sounds right

While I'm sure its not physically impossible to retrofit, as far as boss is concerned it is not possible to upgrade, the plow must be purchased with it

A few years ago my boss dealer stumbled on a way to create down pressure using the smart hitch somehow. I'd have to ask him how he did it. It was before down pressure was an option.

Any plow with direct lift or a welded lift chain can have down pressure.
