i have a 2001 chevy hd and i cut the valance,i just trimmed enough to clear the plow when it hooks to the truck, kind of an shallow elongated upside down u. i trimmed the valance near the bumper through the tow hook opening to mount the plug bracket to the bumper,i did not want it just hanging loose.i used a roto zip to trim the valance it left a nice clean edge.
