Boric Acid Oil Treatment?

    Never head of this, but stumbled across it on another forum I frequent and figured I'd cross post and see what the deal is from poeple who know a hell of a lot more than me about engines.

    Any sound scientific reasons to back up the claim that this is a safe and effective treatment for an older engine? At first I thought it was another engine cleaning thing, but from the sound of it the idea is to actually coat the internals with a very thin, slick coating of boron to help reduce friction over the long term.

    It dosen't sound right, so I will wait and see if someone has really done this before, water and oil don't mix!
