Hi guys, hoping to get some advice here. I currently have a F350 SRW that's primary use is pulling our 5th wheel and is my DD. In the winter, I have a Fisher Xtreme V 8.6 SS that I use on my driveway and some family up the road. (Had it on my previous F250 as well...) My driveway is about 500 feet long by 14' wide paved with a 100X100 paved area at the end in front of my garage. The driveway is straight but for one curve about half way up. The plow has always done well for me but I'm upgrading my truck within a year and need to address the plow situation. Reason is, due to the size of our new RV, I'm going to a F450. From what I read here, wide hips and an 8.5' plow are not a good match. So, here are my options that I'm hoping on some input on.

    1) Keep the plow as is and just switch it over to the 450. It's just one driveway (and maybe family), the plow is paid for (a long time ago), and deal with driving in the snow a bit with my outside rears. Only cost is maybe a new mount (will have to wait and see how extensive the 2017 redesign is) and labor.

    2) Keep the plow and buy the wing extension kit giving me an extra 10". Cheap fix.

    3) Sell the plow with the truck or on craigslist and get a new Xtreme V2 9.5' SS for the 450. I don't mind spending money but this option is going to be a hard sell for my limited use...

    Any thoughts would be appreciated...

I'd try the wing extensions first and see if that helps

I bought a second F350 in 2011 and got the truck side set up for my existing 8.5' MVP (so I could use the plow on either truck). Cost of truck side only was about $2,000 (dealer did the install).

Therefore, for not too much more, you can get a better sized blade too (and maybe sell your old blade to offset the cost).

I use wings on my 8.5' MVP. I leave them on most of the time, but take them off for the wet snow because the wings don't let the snow slide off easily (get big wet chunks). If you have to leave your wings on sll of the time, that may cause headaches for you at times.

I'm just a personal plower similar to you - 600' driveway with a 50'x50' garage turnaround, and do one neighbor with a larger driveway.

For your limited use, I'd either leave it as it, or add wings. No sense in dumping a lot of money when you're not getting a return on it. Wings should suit your purpose just fine.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies guys! What you all are saying is kind of what I was thinking so you confirmed it. I found a place that has the wings for $475. Seems like a good deal. Anyone know of a cheaper place or is that about the lowest I will find?

Not positive on a price for your model, but I've seen some on ebay fairly priced. I think they're a generic brand though, so not sure if the'd be a direct bolt-on. You'd have to research it.
