Ancient Western center bolt ripped

Discussion in 'Western Plows Discussion' started by Avitare, Dec 8, 2008.

  1. My friend Tony has a very old Western and he has broken / ripped out the
    center pivot bolt twice.
Think I read this thread last year but wonder anyone has the suggested fix ??

Had to fix one of the unimounts this sunday for the same thing. It wasn't as bad as the one in the video. We just heated the end up and shaped it back as much we could. Then reinforced it on the bottom with a new piece of thicker steel. Then welded a washer on the top. Not really much can be done on the top due to clearance issues Wasn't that hard to do, easier then getting the bolts off the trip springs, had to heat all of them up. Glad I could fix mine in the heated shop not in the driveway.
