    i had this genius plan of asking my neighbor if i could put a advertising sign at the corner of his property by the road for snow plowing is this ilegal or not thats if i get permision

    keep it off of the state right of way for sure. is it a small sign like 18"x24"? of so, you should be ok. but a larger sign may fall under off premise sign regulations and require a sign permit at the very least.

    their are guys around me that put signs all over the place, state roads, county roads and even nail them to telephone poles, check with your local gov and make sure,

    my town has a website that you can get just about all info you need, check to see if yours does too.

    that said, most likely you do need a permit, so most will just put it up until the town (usually when someone complains) says something then you take it down.

    Do a search on PS ... some guy did a genius thing.... he staked out all his drives with his phone # and co name on them!..... cost a few buck to set up but I bet it makes him 10 time more then it cost him over the long run.
