    Hello everyone,
Going nuts trying to find a class 3 receiver hitch (2") for my 88 Dakota to run
A residential size plow. Can any one help?

I also looked briefly for a mount for my 1993 Dakota and came up empty. I've pretty much accepted that I should buy an entire plow setup from a Dakota because the plow mounts (both 2" and specialized) are rare as hen's teeth. That seems to be the unfortunate truth. If you already have a plow you might have to get a mount custom fabbed. I'd only do that if I could do it myself and I don't have enough faith in my welding skills to do so.

Edit:Actually, I read somewhere that the 2nd gen plow mounts could be modified to use on the 1st gen. I got the impression it would only require cutting and drilling, no welding, but don't quote me on that. I'll post up if I find out more.

I was just looking at the factory service manuals for my '93 Dakota and at one for a '98 Dakota. Indeed, it appears that the distance between the centers of the front cab mounts (radiator support mounts) is 962mm on both the '98 and the '93. One would guess that the distance between the frame rails (inside) where the mount would bolt to is therefore the same. They are very similar looking frames.

It appears that something changed in '00, because the front mount hitch part# changed. Looks like the '00 hitch drops less and has different lower mounting location.

Check out post # 9 here:

Seems the lower mounting arms need to be shortened, which would require welding. I very well may end up buying a front mount just to see if it will work. Not yet though.

    Good luck with your search...
