I wanted to buy a 5.9L diesel to plow with but I don't know how to adjust my bands on the tranny . My gmc 6.5 TD has 100K on it and have just changed the fluids reg.
Do you have to adjust the bands all the time ? Is there a lot of maintenance to these engines?
    Thanks Steve

The engines are very simple to maintain.Regular oil and fuel filter changes are the majority of it.The Cummins is a very reliable engine, you shouldn't have any problems with it.

I'd do the bands, and service the trans every year,no matter what mileage. It's not a hard job to do,all you need is a torque wrench and the right torx bits. It's cheap insurance. My tranny has 400,000 K on it,and it's still going.
