I have a 1989 chevy 2500 with the 5.7. When it is cold out and i stsrt it the high idle kicks in and then it will not kick down untill you shut it off and restart it. Also sometimes the truck will not start some times unless you give it a little peddle. It seems like the choke is not kicking in? Any suggestions on where and what to check for?
    Thanks, Ron

Idle air solenoid/motor is bad. Its mounted on the side of the throttle body and has 4 wires going to it. replace it that will solve your problem.
