Anyone have any solutions for the miserable exhaust pipe on these dang Chevys?

I have a hard time keeping mine on the hangers. It has now bent the pipe and it took a while with the port-a-power to straighten it back out.

It seems that if you back over a windrow or drive through a big puddle it knocks the exhaust off the hangers. The two rear most hangers seem to be the culprit.

I am thinking about having it turn out to the side in front of the rear wheel. If I shorten the pipe or change the angles to do this will that effect engine tuning?

No change in tuning as long as you don't remove the muffler.
