2008 3500hd amber light mount

    just got our '08 3500 and went to put the amber on and noticed the lil switch on the head linner, looked it up and it says its for an aux light mount. and to go to gmupfitter.com to view more, well couldnt find anything there, and was wondering 2 things... is it for a aux light? where do you wire the light into? thanks for any help.

    Yes, it is for an aux light. The wires are blunt cut and taped in place between the headliner and the roof. If you are going to permanently mount the light, drill into the roof and bring your wires out. I'ver heard of guys removing the third brake light and fishing the wire out with to a light on their backrack. It's fused at 30A, rated at 21A, to one marked "SEO 2."

    According to the upfitter manual, the hole should be drilled as follows: 25.39 inches back from the front/center of the roof edge, 17.32 inches from the passenger side of the roof edge. The wiring harness is 4" below the roof.

    I don't know where the relay is for the new body style trucks, but the upfitter manual showed the location for the old body style trucks.
