Hey guys I'm looking at a lightly used f350 6.0 and I have looked under the hood and it has 2 batteries which is probably how they are made anyhow, but how do I see if it has plow prep? What equipment does the plow prep package include. So far I bought both of my trucks with plows so I have never looked into it. Thanks.

I was told the other day from my local dealer that even the new coil spring trucks dont have the plow prep package. So no warranty.

Well I have been looking at new and late model f350s. All the new ones I have looked at have snow plow prep and the dealers have told me warranty will still be good if I add a plow. I was told that the 2006 6.0 already has dual batteries and alternators, I am wondering about the suspension though. The truck does have the FX4 so I am guessing that is good.

Look on the drivers side door jam,if it has the 6,000lb springs it will at least carry the plow.If you have overheating problems you can upgrade to the plow prep fan.You should be able to run the vin # and it should tell you if it has plow prep.

Run the warrenty history on the truck. The 6.0's are VERY prodlemadic. Dont ask me how I know. Do your homework there are ALOT of 6.0 buybacks floating around dealers for real good deals. As far as the snow plow prep crap its a F350 what the hell is the truck supost to be used for then?

I have an 06' F-350 with the plow prep on it. I nosed it up with a buddies truck that is the same only no plow prep, my truck sits a little higher in the front. The dual alternators are a different option. I put my 8'2" V on & the truck drops about 1/2" so it works out good, plus I can run 35" tires without a lift.

yes all the diesels have dual batts but dual alts in not standard.

like said the 6.0 has had its problems but more in 04 than any other. but still probs.....

the FX4 is just some stickers and skid plates and maybe some different shocks.

I bought my 05 used and it didnt' have plow prep. Put the plow on and took off and it over heated, not enough air if i was above 55, below it i was fine. Went to my dealer, bought the snow plow prep fan, put it on and it works like a charm.

just because its a truck doesn't mean you can do whatever you want to with them. Think of how so few trucks actually have snowplows on them. The snowplow prep is an option. It is to help with the fact that you are putting a big windblock in front of the only thing keeping your engine cool.

I can understand how you love your truck and im sure you might have gotten a good one which is cool but I had a 03 bought back from ford replaced with and 04 bought back from ford replcaed with and 06 which was the biggest pile of crap of them all and now I have and 08 6.4. I bleed blue so I wont buy anything else. BUT I would NEVER buy another 6.0. But what you said about the snow plow fan is correct however even the ones with the prep package were failing and were replaced with and updated fan. I know for the 08's the snow plow prep package is a metal bar behind the bumper that you remove anyways when you install a plow. Makes a lot of sense The FX4 packaage is stickers junk shocls and some skidplates., save your money get better shocks make your own stickers and invest the extra cash

I bought an 06 f250 6.0 2 months ago and so far its been great! What front axle rating does the truck have?
