Thinking about adding a new truck, being a dodge owner of course I'm looking at what dodge has to offer. I have a few questions:

How does the 2005 hemi compare with the 2006 hemi?

    Any power/mpg upgrades?

How about the 2500 compared to the the 3500 (I want 8.5 blade and may add a salt spreader)?

Mega cab vs QC (I will take the family out on long trips with this truck)?

Go diesel (I'm working with a limited budget)?

Did Dodge make a Mega Cab 3500 with a gas engine in 2006?

actually i think the 2500's have 345 hp and the 3500's have 335. they were unchanged from 2003 -2008. if your on a budget id stick with the hemi. you will be limited on plow choices with the mega cab vs the quad cab.

^ not with the hemi... I have the quad with the 8' bed and the max plow weight is 950 lbs.. I guess you couldn't put an 8611 on it, but it handles my 9'2" vxt like a champ.

Does the 2006 (and up) hemi had the ability to cut off 4 cylinders and save fuel on the highway? It looks like the 2006 3500 mega cabs only come with a diesel. So I might have to choose between a 2005 3500 QC or a 2006 2500 Mega Cab (both gas).

Am I limited because the Mega only has a 6.5' bed? Western's quick match show only a 7'-6' blade available for both, I want an 8'-6". I guess "quickmatch" plays it safe.

I want the option to (someday) add a salt spreader, that means I have to go with the QC? Or a Salt Dog spreader, correct?

    Thanks for the info.

Can a salter fit in the short Mega Cab box? Or is it ok to overhang the thing 2 feet?
