Was wondering if anybody had this same problem:

At random times the Tow/Haul light will start flashing AND the trans temp guage will peg all the way hot. After a short time the light will stop flashing and the guage will go back to normal. This is while driving normally with the plow off and may happen a few times. I don't have any leaks or damage to the trans cooler and the trans feels like it is operating normally. Any thoughts???? Thanks.

Its an indicator light for your transmission. Its either a sensor of some kind going bad or you good same bad problems about to happen to your trans. Take it in and run a computer test on the truck. The code will come up and tell you what is wrong then.

Smoore45 You answered your own question, it is getting too hot. That is why the O/D light is flashing. So find out why, either restricted flow through the cooler, trans slipping, t/c not locking up etc.

Had a simliar problem on my 00 powerstroke. The sensor in the rear differential was bad. Easy replacement job. But........ no trans temp light came on.
