i traded in my 04 f250 psd, for a new 05 f350 psd s/c lariat. The truck runs great. Got a service recall on the tranny last week in the mail, only took them 2 days to do the repear of the snap ring and caseing, my question is has anyone had any problems after they have fixed the flaw in the tranny's and can anyone notice any diffrence when driving. I also notice when at idle a strong exhaust smell in the cab, anyone else with this problem?

No and yes. After the snap ring cracked the case on our '04 (the planetaries had already been fixed) no more harsh and\or delayed shifting from F\R or R\F. That one 'feels' totally different than the other one that has not had the snap ring 'recall'. I am going to have a local tranny shop install a TransGo shift kit with heavier duty snap ring and an ATS TripleLok TC in this one. I still really don't trust the stock tranny or TC.

Following is the TSB for the exhaust smell in cab. I do not have it really bad, but it is there and I will be having them check it.

    Exhaust Smell in Cab:
If an exhaust smell is present in the cab, inspect for leaks at the exhaust manifolds. Ford's procedure calls for warming up the truck to operating temperature, then shutting off the engine, remove the EBP sensor and use a smoke machine to feed smoke into the exhaust system. Inspect each exhaust port, manifold flange and Y-pipe joint for smoke leakage. I find using a length of hose as a stethyscope while the engine is running works well to pinpoint exhaust leaks. If a leak is found at the exhaust manifold, replace only the manifold gasket that is leaking(I think this should read INSTALL a gasket, since originally there are no gaskets at the manifolds). Gasket P/N 5C4Z-9448-A.
