This is most likely my fault, but just wondering if anyone has bent the rod that locks the jack stand into place and they're having a hard time getting it to work correctly again.
Is this common? Is it easy to fix?

I've bent the jackstand itself a couple of times, but never the rod. Sorry...

Is the flat part of the head gear where the jack leg comes up through bent also.
If you drag the jack leg or hit something with it it can buckle the leg mounting portion of the head gear causing the rod to bend and the pin holes to be misaligned.

I'm not surprised that you can't get it to work the way it use to. Those odd contours are made just right to make it all work. I watched one of the guys at my local dealer try and bend one back awhile back, he ended up breaking it in two and replacing it with a new one.

If you can't...finangle it and want to replace it, the part number for just that end section is 27478 ($18). All the components can be had if you did more damage then you initially thought.
