Hey guys, i know there are other posts about xls vs xtreme v but i need a different kind of help. Here's my situation...
I do 50% smaller driveways, 20% long driveways and 20% lots
Im getting rid of my 7.5' straight blade for a new set up. It will be on my f350 pick up, single rear wheel, primarily. But if something were to happen with my pick up, I can put it on my f550 which is obviously dual rear wheels. The confusion starts with either a 8.5 xtreme v because its nice for driveways, small enough for a pick up yet wide enough to clear an f550 rear, or an xls because of its versatility from 8-10'. The stainless is nice on the v, and of the two which scrapes better, long term cost of the xls end rubber and the difference in weight. Any help would be great. Thanks!!!

I would get the v and put wings on it when doing lots or in the 550

Get the xls. I service large lots, small lots and a few bigger drives and some really tight drives. I have both of the plows you want and the xls is the best and most versatile plow. Plus you don't have to take the wings on and off between jobs and believe me it gets old after awhile. Just press a button and you are ready for any property. I know it is my opinion but I am telling you it is the correct answer to your question.

XLS all the way. Far more versatile than the V and far more productive. I have two of them currently and have been very happy with both so far.

XLS unless you constantly get heavy snows where the V will break in better than the straight-blade oriented XLS.

Thanks for all the brainstorm ideas guys. Some other concerns i have are which one back drags better, scrapes better, how does the xls rubber scrape, how do the wings hold up and because of the wings is it full board trip?

Yes I did, I've had two WO's in the previous 4 years, they are a great plow, there is no doubt the will move some snow. Sounds like the OP does little commercial work so the XLS wouldn't fit his business model as much. A Vee is more versatile especially when back dragging.

The other debate is which is better overall and this isn't another debate thread over the merits of each plow,........yet

XLS is trip edge, the wings are poly. The Blizzard version has steel on the wings I believe.

Wide out is full trip with rubberized wings

XLS is trip edge with rubberized wings

Blizzard full trip with steel wings

I think the v with wings is what im leaning towards. How much do the wings add 12" or so?

Do you plow any steep drives the v has its advantages in that respect.
