For those of you who plow in suburban/urban areas with paved drives (not gravel), what is your trigger (amount of snow that has to fall before you plow)? Personally, all my customers have agreed to have their drives plowed (and walks shoveled) at 1 1/2+".

    How about you?

Some are 1" and some are 2". I don't go any higher than 2" for a trigger.

Usually two - three inches. People are cheap sometimes! One guy told me 6 inches or more. I said to Hell with that, I don't want to beat on my equipment.

One apartment building wants it plowed, sanding, and shoveled at a dusting and up! No joke. MONEY MONEY MONEY! payup payup payup ...

I also plow a private road... an up hill road. It's at 1 1/2 inches... the other places are residential and a couple commercial but people around here like sand, so I make more money sanding than plowing at times.

Couple 3 / 4 banks I do, 1/4" and up, anything under is salted, everything else is at 1".

Pretty much anything where the tire tracks has ridges on the sides when you drive through a parking lot, those all get plowed.

Businesses and full time residents we plow at 2" here in northern MI, except for the Walmart/Home Depot/Office Max/Lowes parking lots, they're at 1/2" payup

We're kinda in a "resorty" area too so alot of downstate people have us plow their drives at 6-8" just for emergencies. If they plan on coming up, they just give us a call the day before so we can go knock it out.
