what tranny?

    went to napa today to get a transmission filter for my 2004 2500hd 4x4 reg cab with the tow button....something told me to look at the filter and it says 4L60e filter. i thought i had a 4L80 trans?? could i be mistakin? how can i tell the difference of the two could i just look at the pan?

    nevermind can delete this topic went under the truck and the pan had 17 bolts(80E) instead of the 16 bolts the 60E has

    ...From previous posts I think you have 4L85E......I have 01 dealer checked I have 4L80E someone on this site said technically I should have 4L85E...Go to dealer with vin they can help....

    A 6.0 wouldn't have a 60 no matter what.

    17 bolts 4l80e , 16 bolts 4l60 and its a square pan.
