First off, I did do a search, and found nothing, but I do know this topic gets posted every November or December, so I was supprised I didnt find it in the search.

I am curious to what you guys will be carrying with you in reguards to tools and such.

This is my third year plowing. Luckly Ive been lucky with no major breakdowns, however I always bring things like Extra bags of salt, hard flat shovel, buckets, jumpers, extra selinoids, ratchets, etc.

What is everyone else carrying with them?

When I plowed resi's in Mass I always had: extra hydro lines for my Fisher Speedcast, ATF for plow, belts, shovel, sand bags that were for weight and sand to get unstuck (never needed it though), engine oil, ATF for trans and winshield washer fluid. Basic hand tools for repairs, A JACK TO RAISE THE PLOW IN CASE SOMETHING BROKE WHILE IT WAS DOWN AND WOULDN'T RAISE UP. I never plowed more than 15 mins from my house, so I didn't load the cab up with too much.

    What to carry

My guys have a cell phone and if they break down they call into the shop and either I take out the hose or tire to them if its that simple. Either that or I call my neighbor and he goes out and tows them back so we can work in the garage rather then in the snow. Every truck is equiped with a spare, jack, flares and a first aid kit. Along with a map of the area.

I've always been more of a revolver guy, less things to go wrong in the bitter cold and snow.
S & W Model 22 is the current fav, 45ACP out of a revolver, fixed sights, etc.
But I have carried a glock in the past and that's what the wife carries.

Ohhhhhh, you meant carry as in tools, not carry as in carry.
    sorry, carry on.

I carry some water, an orange to fight the 24th hour gut rot and my wallet.

I always have my perleys map because that's got my route in it and then I have a seperate log book to log everything.

If I'm lucky I have some channel locks or plyers.

If something breaks it goes back to our shop. No sense fixing a truck in the cold. If something breaks that we can't fix ourselves it goes to the equipment center. And if something major goes we park it until the next day and that driver can jump in the backhoe or a machine that isn't being used.

Thank's iceyman.. I like to be prepared for any breakdown.. providing dependablily to my customers is a very important aspect to me..

Well. it's not easy but with some careful organazation and the right sized storage containers it all fits..

:D......That's my intentions, to be prepared for almost any breakdown..all the tools in the world wont do you any good if there back at the shop when you need them the most..and even the smallest breakdown can put you out of commision for hours if you don't have it onboard... I'm also a firm believer in the fact that whatever you don't have, you WILL need..

Many times I don't even use the stuff I carry for my own equipment..I'm usually the guy my other plower buddies call at 3 am when they have a breakdown...cuz they know more than likely I'll have it on hand.

Me too pj! Although it's a little over on the FAWR fully loaded..:D
