What cab and bed config? 2500hd or 3500? This should be in the plow disscsion or chevy forum, may ask a mod to move it.

i think the 810 would be a little much for a 2500 with a diesil motor.

Truck should be able to take bigger than a 7.5 JMO but it depends on what he has.

Chevy recently decided it would be best to confuse the hell outa everything for marketing reasons.

1500 is the old 1/2 ton
2500 is the old 3/4 ton
    1500hd is a old 3/4 ton
2500HD is the old 1 ton
3500 is a dual rear wheel 1 ton although recently they came out with a srw 3500 with is a rasied gvrw 1 ton.

The 2500hd and the 3500 line has differnt frams and other stuff. The 2500HD and 3500 line also share the same front end components although you can get a bit lighter t bar up front of a 2500hd if you want but the avalible capacity is just as high for a 2500hd as a 3500. A 2500HD can take just as big of a plow though as a 3500.

GMC followes the same deal as Chevy. I believe it was a deal that they wanted people to buy thier trucks but most didnt want to buy a "big rough 1 ton work truck" or when they bought a 1500HD(the only way you could get a crew cab 1500) you werent buying a "big rought 3/4 ton work truck". PU trucks are getting driven alot more by the soccer mom and suburban coyboy types. It dosnt seem to bother most of the ignorant masses and they just hop along like happy little lemmings no wiser in thier nice riding plush 1 ton and 3/4 ton trucks. But the rest of us get confused as hell and it becomes a PITA when you try to compare things since the new designations dont really mean squat.
