its on my new snoway king pin bolt...is it a lock nut? I'm just wondering if it goes with that notch down and the ring squashed to lock? or its just the wrong type of nut.

Probably just a locking nut. The raised ring might be there as a built in spacer of sorts.

My transmission mechanic knew what it was right away...the ring on the top is oval and thus is the lock mechanism...I think I'm going to get a nylon one instead.
