How far does a bag of salt go? Will a broadcaster used for lawns work for spreading it

Some broadcasters work.... the larger commercial ones. The little plastic ones won't for actual salt (although ok for sidewalk melter products).
For the amount of area a 50# bag does,...that varies with temps,...but I CAN tell you this. For most conditions, 32 down to mid to lower 20's, we put bagged salt down at 20# per thousand sq. ft.. At this rate, it is effective on coverage, and I have confidence that it will do well - and does. At this rate, a 50# bag will cover 2500 sq. ft.. Bagged salt goes further per lb. than bulk, because it's weighed amount is much dryer.
