What are you guys using to determine pavement temps......

    Anyone using a handheld laser temp gun? If so does wet pavement affect accuracy?

    RoadWatch .... same device that many of the DOT's use.

    Infared laser gun, $80, works great wet or dry should be the same

    Ouch, wasn't it hard to pony up that much money? How's it work?

    Hard to pony up? No.. worth the coin. (Somewhere around $500 a piece..)

    It does impact how much salt we use, as warmer surface temps don't require as much vs. vica and I can control what I am spreading while I am spreading. Additonally, since its mounted right on the mirror, it is in the same traffic lane consistently that cars and people walking are.

    Time is money, and stopping to shoot a laser at a spot is not efficient, but to eachs own.. Whatever works for them. :)

    Good point, time is money. I've been looking at buying one for years now, thanks for helping me decide.payup
