    1. How much, depends on your plow & truck combo.
I use about 400# of sand, some bagged salt, placed behind the rear wheels,
then I load the snowblower. In the cross box there tools fluids, shovels.

    2. I keep most of the weight behind the rear wheels. Why? It has a cantilever affect on the front axle. takes some if the weight off of the front axle. It Aids in traction & braking by keeping the rear end planted on the ground.

spell checker is in the upper right corner above the smiles, look for the
abc, down load the program and your good to go.

Okay. Color me blind or stupid, but I don't show any smiles in the upper right corner, nor any abc.

In the upper right hand I have in the blue border in black print the word Thread: then in white "Weight while plowing?" Below that to the right of the title box it says logged in as Fastcar.

Down at the bottom left of page at posting rules all seems okay smilies are on.

Seems something is shut off. Damned if I can find it though

Use the search button, you will find a hundred threads asking the same question, one just a few weeks ago.

I use Twelve 70 LB Tubes of sand, plow companies will generally recommend 3/4 the weight of the plow. I find it better to go ahead and throw in the entire weight of the plow. As far as securing your ballest, the tube sand does not slide around very much, at least not with my bedliner. If it does slide you could cut two 2x4 's to the size of the width of the bed and slide them in to keep the weight where you want it.

You will find lots of info on this if you search:nod:
