water softener salt range??

    Anybody that is using water softener salt for de icing know how cold before it wont work?

    I think I've heard around 20*F, but I don't remember for sure. I'm sure someone will correct or confirm this.

    It's the same as rock salt. I believe 5*F but could be wrong

    If it is just regular sodium chloride(rock salt) it's like 20deg-5deg give or take, just need to use more the colder it gets :D

    I was wrong. I looked it up and artisanoutdoors is correct. It's around 5*F

    Which would change my answer back to 15-20 degrees. This is why I stick to the bagged ice melt...I'm clueless. Sorry OP I'll let others answer here where they might know more than me
