HEY MERC...............Long time no post !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you ever get the stuff (timbrens?) or your money back from that certain person you ordered stuff from last year?????????

For a complete list/pics/schematics etc. of the VYU plow prep. pkg. go to
http://www.gmupfitter.com Go to publications pg. 27

Don't forget the RCS mfr. BBQ and plow equipment show this Sat. the 15th
in Rochester. Check the post in the commercial snowplowing thread..............geo

Just a note though, don't spend time looking for the firewall hole and grommet. They don't drill them anymore!

So in essence, you get a dash switch and wires for a beacon.

Everything else is able to be ordered seperately.

Yes, i know. tend to hibernate from here in the summer months i guess...

NO, i never got the products i ordered. and, paypal basically told me to hold my hand on my a$$.. i did file a dispute w/ my credit card company however and did get my money back. so, i was happy w/ that. lesson learned i guess.

anyhow, i did check the upfitter site. it shows diagrams for 99-up. just wasnt sure if GM changed anything and never updated that site or not.
so, im guess nothing more than a larger alternator, skid plates, and the extra wire for the roof light.. no suspension upgrades from what i can see.. i also noticed that you can get digital climate control w/ plow prep. i dont understand why GM does things sometimes..

so, how do you like your 2500 so far. is it a 6.0? how bad is the mileage really? i hear horror stories from some and some tell me the milage is great....

why the required delete of digital climate control?

MERC...............So Big Nate DID STIFF ya huh? Thats too bad.
And after all his promises and excuses to repay everyone.........

I always wondered what happened to ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The VYU plow prep pkg. also now has a 145 amp alt. for 05 and up!
    Thats about the only update................

My 04 6.0 is still working hard. NO dealer visits except for my
    heated mirror failure................

I got one of those Hypertech 3 handheld programmers and put the
"jazz" to it ! Hiway mpg unloaded ac on I now get 21 mpg. Up from 17.
City 15 mpg up from 12. Plowing/towing and endless idle ing about 8-10.

From some posts at the GM truck sites I sure am glad I didn't get a 8.1
or diesel. They seem to be REAL fuel hogs vs. the 6.0

This will be its 3rd and last season plowing so next spring I will be on
the hunt for a new 07 GMT-900 and just swap the plow over.........

Hope to see ya this weekend in Rochester !!!!!!!!
Click on the RCS advertising banner at the top of the page also for
    details...............geo

Yep, he boned me.. Is he still kicking around the site?

    I see..

    Thanks for the info..
SO, is that mileage according to the computer in the truck,or did u actually calulate it. What did the hypertech programmer run you?

A bud of mine went from an 03 6.0 to an 05 Dmax. Said mileage did get a little worse. Only advantage he said was towing heavy loads didnt affect milage as much as w/ the 6.0...

What would you say an 05 2500HD LT is worth to buy "right".... 17K miles. ext cab..loaded to the moon.

Plow prep may also include a heavier front end depending. On a HD Duramax all you get is the blinky light.

Cost of the blinky light as an option 100 beans, plow prep 300 beans. Its a freaking SCAM!

    Ratlover, thanks for replying.
this is a 6.0 liter.. not a Dmax... i think i read just the light and alternator.

I wasn't aware that it was a stand alone option.

MERC................I calculated the mpg by actual fuel used and
mileage on odo. Thats the only accurate way to do it.............

Fill it.... drive it....Refill it......Note mileage and gallons used.......
    Then calculate..............

Are you buying a new truck? If so a few GM employee guys around
here can get ya the REAL GM employee deal thats even better than
the recent GM promotion. Forget buying used............

A new 2500 x-cab, 6.0, cloth seats and the power goodies along
with plow prep., tow pkg, locker for around $30k.

But I would wait till the spring when they introduce the new 07
GMT-900 body style. They will be blowing the 06s out the door
with big rebates or spring for a new style 07.....................

Don't forget the BBQ this weekend in Rochester..............

    Geo,

    Thanks for the info.
I actually found a 2005 that seems to be a pretty good deal. As long as its as clean as the owner is claiming...

I saw the blinky light button listed in the auto book deal at the dealer.

Make sure you get the 4800# front end.....I think with the 6.0 you can still get the lighter front end but am not sure. I know a plow prep on any HD gives you the 4800# front end

Doesn't the VYU also give the installer pigtails or plugs to connect to the headlights to the plow light system???

supposedly but in practice? Just like the predrilled hole with a gromet. First dealer I went to the salesman tried to argue with me about it....."if my truck wasnt squashed and in a tow yard right now I would show you the hole I had to drill and the rpo code for the plow prep, dont argue with me I know what the plow prep comes with on a duramax"

I know my truck has the plug because I had to re tuck some wires after the install. Only splice I noticed was for the DRL.. other than that it looked plug and play...

thats in the harness of the plow itself ;) the new plow isolation moduels as western/fisher calls em make lfie nice. you just plug and play piggy back all the conectors in and life is good! Only have to splice for the DRL.....dont even understand why you need to do that? Its a deal with the plow manufacturers not GM

Thanks for all the replies guys..
    Heres an update.
I pickled up that 2005. It has the plow prep package.
On the window sticker the paackage claims to include:
-Provisions for Emergency light(the switch on the dash)
    -Skid Plates
    -High capacity springs
    -145amp alternator

    It also came w/ a 2nd battery.

So, Ratlover, I assume this includes that 4800# front end?

Also, does anyone know why you cant get digital climate control w/ the plow prep package?? no big deal, but, just wondering...

2nd battery is a seperate option available w/ or w/o VYU. Make sure though that it's not hooked up for camper use with isolation. You need it to be hooked up direct in parallel.

I have no idea why the climate control isn't available.

I've gotten used to the manual, and kinda like the levers for those quick switches to different temps (though I think the levers just go to a motorized air valve.

Yes, you will have the 4800lb FAWR.
