Unimount plow acting weird after a few hours.

Discussion in 'Western Plows Discussion' started by mklawnman, Feb 21, 2013.

  1. I have put this questions on here before and I have read plenty of threads about this similar problem. The issue is after a few hours of normal plowing, the plow will start acting up. I will raise the plow up and when I try to go left the plow doesnt do anything, I have also had the plow raise when I hit the left button. The plow also will act slow at times when I do hit the up button or I have to go right then left to get the plow to go up.
I have replaced the 3 way and 4 way valves and one coil jjust to see if that would solve the problem. I have also replaced one of the check valves but I am unable to get the front one open. I checked the popet valve and that looks fine spring doesnt look broke.
My controller is only 1 year old. Any other thoughts, could it be the 2 way valve is going or do I have another coil going? We changed fluid before the season as well but I am going to pull the motor off and make sure the screen isnt clogged.
For the most part the plow runs fine and sounds fine when I use it for a few hours straight, its just after that it will act up for a few times then work fine again. I have heard a loud poping sound when I click left not sure if that is a valve working or if that is something mechanical poping on the plow it self.
    Thoughts.....

kinda sounds like your controller is going bad.....alotta use=heat. circuit boards dont like heat.

Agree I've had. Joystick controler do this also not so much the hand held

  4. The controler is only a year or so old, but I did notice yesturday a delay when hitting the down button at times, so I am going to clean the connections from the truck to the plow and put new greese in the connections as well. I do have a spare controler so I will try that too, it is possible that the controller is going.

    Try the old controller..

  6. I will try the old controler, seems odd it would be that since early on when plowing it works just fine but as the hours go by the plow will start to act up, you hit up and you can hear the solenoid clicking but the plow motor trys to get the plow to raise but doesnt, so I end up hitting left and right then back to up and it will work, sometimes the plow goes up slow sometimes it works normal. My other thought is to drain the system out, check the filter and pull all the valves making sure they are clean. Just frustrates me everytime I try something it doesnt seem to work and it has to act up at the worst times when im in the middle of the storm.
