Hello to all, I have a 2003 chevy silverado 1500 HD 4X4 diesel crew short bed. I wanted to put the Fisher extreme V plow stainless on this truck. I plan on putting a boss sander on the hitch and put 400lbs of ballast in the rear bed. Only plowing my home and office
    1. Is this too much plow for the suspension?
    2. could you please comment on how good is a Vblade vs a straight blade vs wings.

They say....... A 1500HD is really just a 2500 So in that case a v plow shouldnt really hurt. I've never used a Fisher so its hard to say.

With the amount of places you say you plow... you cant really go wrong with a straight blade. A v plow is just the best of both worlds.

I wasn't aware the 1500HD was available with the Dmax. Are you sure it's a 1500 not a 2500? Salvaged truck? I've seen a few salvages that are 2500's with 1500 doors around.

Just for the heck of it I put your info in as a 2500hd instead of a 1500hd ...with the diesel option and crew cab, it only allows a 7.5 straight!....ouch!

Is there a picture of this truck? You have a 2003 1500 that says Duramax on the badge , I doubt it not from the factory.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say its a typo. If it is a 2500, you'll be fine. a friend of mine runs a duramax 2500hd with a 9.5' xvee with no problems

It HAS to be a typo. The Dmax was NEVER installed in a 1500.If the OP meant 2500,you will be fine up to a 9' class plow.I run a 9-2 Boss V on my 3500,which has the identical front suspension as a 2500.

The OP better think about getting the frame gussets installed as well since Chevy builds such an awesome front end.

Probably due to the weight of the motor compared to a gasser.

Duramax never came in a 1500 truck. Now the 6.5 did, but they stopped the 6.5 in 1500 series in 1998, but did continue the 6.5 in the 2500-3500 till sometime in 2000.
