I came into a 78 chevy K10 with an old fisher plow. It says by the dipstick: "Use only type A automatic transmission fluid." I can't seem to find type "A" ATF anywhere.

Is there another fuid I can substitute for ATF type A?

back then thay had type a or type f . just get some good quality atf for a gm .

dont use any thing with friction stuff like type f . not good.

these old speedcasters work best with atf. not the newer blue stuff. only atf.
  3. Type "a" Atf

Type "A" ATF is now Dexron III fluid---same stuff, different name.
