Truck Problem

    have a 96 Chevy 1500, took it to mechanic this week for an inspection. hooks it up to NYS inspection machine and it wont even read it. he called state and they dont know whats going on. he hooked other cars up to it and it worked fine. its the computer in the truck. now we have to take it down to gm dealer. any ideas on what it could be?

    Check your cig lighter fuses. One of them powers the OBDII port.

    drove the truck 25 miles last night found out it was brake light switch B fuse was blown put 20 in it and it was fine (cruise control works now) this is the 2nd time in 7 months that it did that. also the air bag light was on for first time never seen that light come on before.

    mechanic said it can not get connection to state computer with emissions. checked OBD 2 says no codes engine light is not on. Air Bag light is on though. tried 3 times and it failed mechanic is not specialized in electrical repair. any suggestions on how i can figure this out?

    find a mechanic specialized in electrical repair.

    Those Bruins sure can lose with style, eh?
