I got a 1995 Ram 2500 V10. I was thinking about changing the oil in the transfer case and differentials. What is the best oil to use?

    Thanks

For all the abuse the diffs and transfer case takes, and since they don't get changed all the time, they are the perfect candidate for synthetic oils.Any good synthetic 80W90 gear oil for the diff, and synthetic ATF for the transfer case should work fine.

If you have a limited slip, then change the oil first, and test drive it around some tight corners. If it chatters too much, add an ounce or two of the Mopar limited slip additive.Take it for another drive doing some tight figure eights to get the additive up into the clutch packs. If it still chatters, keep adding a little at a time (an ounce) until it is acceptable. You should still have a tiny bit of chatter,or the limited slip may not work well enough when needed.
