transfer case 93 gmc

    what oil do i use
    its a 93 gmc 1500

    Dexron ATF is the factory fill. Synthetic ATF or a manual trans lubricant (MTL) is better.

    What ever you do don't add gear oil to it! I just had to replace my transfer case on my 97 chevy and the mechanic told me that it was due to the fact that the grease monkey that filled it up last time used 90 wt gear oil.

    I am not sure if it's true or not, but I won't let it happen again.

    Yes it's absolutely true. The oil pump in the 241 T-cases aren't capable of pumping a fluid of that viscosity, thus they burn up due to lack of lube. Happens more than you think since too many believe T-cases still run gear oil.
