03 chevy 2500hd, pretty sure it has the 4L80-E..
sounds like it might be the torque converter clutch. anyone had experience with this problem? how difficult of a job would it be to replace?
i have never taken a transmission apart from an engine before, is this something that i could do with some help?
i do have pretty good mechanical knowledge, just have never done it..

Have the tranny scanned for codes. Hard shifts is a sign that the tranny is in "limp" mode trying to protect it's self. These computer controlled trannys use many different sensors on the vehicle to tell it what to do.
