I was wondering how much to crank the t-bars on a 95 Chevy 2500 with a 8' older Diamond(ten minute mount) She sags quite a bit . After cranking should the truck be realigned?

    Thanks
    Steve

Mine is a 97 3500 and cranked them 5 turns. Runs straight as an arrow. 600 lbs. ballast in rear levels out the front.

A used car truck salesman/mechanic said not to turn because it would change the trucks height also changing the canter/camber?
    Are your tires wearing evenly?

AND IS IT SNOWING THERE YET? NOT HERE. Its gonna though. I cant wait payup payup

I believe the max is 5 turns before you may have a problem. So far they are wearing well cosidering my plow is on 24/7 and it is a Blizzard 810 at 950 lbs. Suggest you turn them up and get the alignment checked just to see how far you can go. The ballast is important. No, that storm won't get here for two days but I'm trying to see the track it is taking. What part Ct. you in? I'm hoping for some more plowing. Haven't had much this year. I might add that you should turn them back down in the late spring when your done plowing.

North West Corner . If it snow tonight it will be my eighth plowable event way down from last year. I don't have last year stats right here but i think it is about 50% of last year.

    And You?

Eight? We have only had four and they were minor. If your down, we are at the bottom of the barrel. So much for living up here in the north EH. According to the radar you should have snow in about an hour and lots of it because both forks are converging on the NW corner of CT.

Hope you didn't go out and buy a new plow truck because of last year!

No, I've been around this game for 30 years. Everything goes in a cycle. That's why you don't spend all the money when you have a good year because there are going to be bad years. This year is not over and Mother nature will speak again, loudly, and often before spring and we will be looking for rest in april. That's my prediction. By the looks of things you will be looking for rest come tomorrow night sometime. Have fun. Save some for us.

STEVE............I crank up the torsion bars every winter
    and back down every summer.
I have the crossmember and torsion bar heads punchmarked
for reference. Just hard to remember how many turns I
    cranked them....OLD age!........LOL

This year I went 5 turns. I have never had any front end
problems or excessive tire wear on any of my IFS GM trucks.
    Knock on wood !

Easy to do....Jack up the front of your rig some to take the
    weight off the front end.

Turn torsion bar bolt head clockwise to raise,
    counterclockwise to lower.

NOTE: Sometimes one bolt may be turned in or out more
than the other when you eyeball them. Don't be alarmed.

You may have to adjust one or the other more if the truck is
crooked. But remember the driver and gas tank are on the
left side so ya might want the drivers side a wee bit higher!

    ............geo

sonjaab: How much is a wee? Just kidding.

Don't forget the ballast. It is important to level the truck front to rear. Usually the weight of the plow.

    I always forget to mention ballast ! I have a "H" shaped
4 x 10 wooden frame that fits over my wheelwells in my
bed that i have a milkcrate full of goodies ie: Chains, jumpercables, spare plow goodies, etc and 12- 60? lb.
tube sands. I have a tonneau cover so everything is dry
    and outta site !

Keeps my lowriding Chevys nose off the ground with the
    plow on!.................geo

Snow STILL blasting here....Time to get back at it !
