tire size and fenders

I recently bought a set of 15x10 rims with 33x12.5x15 Yokohamas to go on them. I had been running 30x9.5x15 0n smaller rims. I'm trying to determine how much a supension lift I need to get a good fit. I have jacked the truck up with the new tires on and the tires still hit the fender when you steer sharp. I am now in the process of trimming the fenders on the front to give clearance. Is this a normal modification when going to a larger tire on a 1982 Chevy 4x4? or did I just miss an easier solution? (Please note: my front springs are orginal and are slightly bowed down which may contribute to some height loss).
