ticking noise

    when i accelerate hard, i get a ticking/rattling noise from my 2001 f250 v10. is it a busted exhaust manifold or a heat sheild thats loose. any ideas?

    most likely exhaust manifold bolts

    i know i am definetly missing one bolt, could that be the cause?

    Could be. Header bolts have a way of working themselves out especially if they are aftermarket. Make sure that if you have a leak out of the manifold flange, that it didn't burn out that part of the the gasket. That will defiantly make it tick, especially under acceleration when there is a higher exhaust pressure/ flow.

    If one is broken then there are usually more broken. Make SURE to replace with the stainless steel bolts.
