old bachelor farmer here, stops into same coffee shop i stop at every morning. as you can see in the pic, his door latch is broken. that's what the shovel is for. his engine block heater extension cord serves two purposes.

#1...of course, you plug it in to help get your truck started on cold mornings.

#2...after you start your truck, you take the other end of the cord that's wrapped around your left hand mirror, pull your door shut, and tie it to your steering column to keep your door shut while you drive down the road. truck has been like this for at least 4-5 years

He probably has a couple milk cans of cash somewhere on his farm. He probably is smarter than most know.

I had a old 86 B2 with a door that didnt shut, I used bungee cords. Worked great until a friend stood on the rocker panel, breaking the rocker off and caused the seat too fall through the floor (yes it was that rusty, there was bondo half way up the body)

But I've never seen the shovel trick before.

A guy I used to work with had his wipers crap out on the way home to CT from Kentucky driving thru steady rain almost the whole way. He tied some clothes line to each one, ran it thru each front vent window, and he and his wife had some redneck delay wipers. Made it home but they had some sore arms.
