23 Oct 08 – Several models have been advertising an Arctic Express of Cold air arriving over the Northern tier of the United States beginning late Saturday mainly over Norther Dakotas and Minnesota. As the Cold air slams through that area, Snow will accompany the Cold front and may accumulate over far Northern Minnesota with totals mainly being 1-2" of snow. High temperatures early next week in that area will tend to be in the low 30s with lows in the 20s and teens. The arctic intrusion will push farther south to cover Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois as well as the Great Lakes. Temperatures will range from the 30s to the 40s & 50s for that area. As the colder air moves south, this will set up the perfect FIRST lake effect snowfall near Bergland Michigan with 2-5" of snowfall expected with highs in the 30s. There may even be a few Snow Showers and Flurries as far south as Chicagoland! Enjoy this Saturday as it will be much warmer over the Central part of the nation. But never fear, the cold air will retreat mid week and will be a distant memory across the area.
