Tailgate Salters & Pickle Mix

Discussion in 'Ice Management' started by By-The-Lake, Feb 3, 2014.

  1. I have been running bulk salt through a Blizzard LP-8 with a Karrier vibrator this season but due to the salt shortage need to switch over to pickle mix as this is all that is available to me at this point. I will be using it for the first time tonight and was just wondering if there is any chance it will work with the spreader or if I need to go back to feeding the chickens. Mixture is 35% salt.

Sand/salt mix is also known as pickled sand/ pickle mix.

Always ask the mixture. Some do 10-1 or anything in between. 5 to one or 4-1 is what I like.

Hmm. Never heard it called that... was thinking more along the lines of actual pickles... lol since they use salt and calcium chloride in the manufacture of pickle brine, I thought hey that's not a bad idea...!
