what are some of the changes if any with the superduty trucks from years 1999-2004. I know in 2005 they gave it a face lift anything else?

You do not want a early 99 (the power stroke badge is on the fender) they have a smaller turbo and smaller injectors, also had some frontend problems. In mid 2003 they went to the 6.0 and 5r110 trans.
Starting in 2003 you could get the FX4 and Sport packages. I believe cretebaby is right, the seats/dash changes in 01, I also believe this is when they added the back doors to the ex cab's.
some time in 2001 they also went to powderdmetel connecting rods in the motor.(bad if you plan on going over 450-500 hp) . In 2005 when they did the facelift they also changed the interior around a lot and went to coil springs up front. If your looking for a work truck the 01-early03's with the 7.3 are a great setup. If you buy a 6.0 I would stick with a 06 or 07.
There is more but nothing very significant lol

the 04's have the spark plugs holes with more threads to prevent plug blow out.

01 and up have PI heads..dont confuse this with sparkplug redesign..this is a redesigned head for the gassers gave 20 or 40 extra horses dont remember...

01 i think they changed a part in the trans for diesels.. something about a sprag style something or another

05 and up got coil overs and a much better turning radius

05 and up gassers got 3v heads adding 40 more horses on the v8 not sure about the v10

01 and up transmissions cant drain the torque converter throught the hole in the bellhousing.

think that 04s are the only ones with turn signals on the mirrors

    thats about it!

I love my early '99 7.3L. It makes great power in stock form and no front end issues. Plus I am guaranteed to have Forged rods in my motor. :D

I have had 3 6.0's with no problems(well the only problems were caused by me lol) but there are many out there with problems. Thats why I said stick with a 7.3 or a newer 6.0-6.4.
And I don't know about you guys but I would never buy a truck after just reading the Specs lol
