sub contracting

  1. this winter i might be doing some sub contracting and was wondering how you pay them write a check or you have them on pay roll of some sort. if pay roll how do you file for that and what not.

    Make sure you have a copy of their liability insurance on hand. Make sure they submit an invoice for the sub work they do. Write them a check, and send them a 1099. I am guessing they will be using their own equipment. If it is your equipment, then you will need to go thru payroll as they are actually your employee.

    check to see if they have work comp too. if they don't,we have to pay 39 per hundred on them. our liability ins. company says it's a no no if they don't have equil ins.
