I have a 97 1500. When it is cold out and sits overnight, occasionally I cant shift out of park. If I let the truck run for about 2-3 minutes it shifts fine. Also once its not stuck the tranny appears to shift fine.

Any help as to how to resolve this?

I am fine with just letting it run, but if its something that should be fixed I would rather just get it out of the way then become stranded somewhere.

Failing shift interlock solenoid or brake light switch. But probably the solenoid.

How are your brakes? My friend had the same problem when his brakes were shot. If he pumped the brakes it would come out of park. I think he had to do it with the truck not running then put it in neutral, then he started it.

    Ill check out the solenoid.

Brakes are fine, no braking problem and had them redone about 6 months ago
